Catalysts

Topsoe, as a leading supplier of cutting-edge catalysts and technologies, has an active research and development division. The company`s current focus is on new catalysts and processes for :

  • large-scale syngas units including gasifiers
  • hydrotreating catalysts and other refining technologies to meet new fuels requirements
  • environmental solutions for removing sulphur compounds and NOx from gas streams in industrial plants and power plants and from diesel exhaust

Biogas and Landfills

One of Enviroplus` principal technology suppliers, Tedom, is among the biggest producer of “green electricity” in Europe, as many of its cogeneration units are operated in landfills, making use of landfill gas to produce electricity. Landfill gas contains a high percentage of methane, one of the most aggressive gasses causing greenhouse effect.

The company states:

Compared to the separate production of electricity and heat, the combined production generated in CHP units running on natural gas as well as the electricity production from renewable energy resources, provide a significant emission reduction of CO2. Annually TEDOM, as an operator of CHP units burning natural gas and landfill gas, saves almost 250.000 tons of CO2 compared to the standard electricity production in the Czech Republic. If we were able to sell all these emissions at the price of CO2 allowances (currently about 20 EURO per ton) then we could achieve financial savings of 5 million EUROS. More details about CO2 reductions at each plant is available here.

More information on biogas is also available on the Tedom website.
